Biography Alastair Surprise was born on Groundhog Day of 1975 in a small town called Oconto, Wisconsin. Two weeks after being delivered, he and his family were on an airplane heading overseas. He spent the better part of twelve years in different countries including Australia, Africa, Finland and the former U.S.S.R. Having a father who worked for the Department of State afforded him the chance to travel every two to three years to a new and beautiful place. After their tour in Moscow ended, the Surprise family moved back to the United States in the summer of 1986 just outside of our nation's capitol in Fairfax, Virginia. Adapting to the new surroundings and people came easy for him; after all that overseas moving he became quite adept at it. In late 1996 he graduated with a B.A. from George Mason University and spent a few years working full time. While working day, night and weekend shifts he tried to juggle going to workshops and booking the television and film work in the Washington D.C. and Baltimore area. Finally in late 1998 a brief visit to the Los Angeles area solidified a decision that had been weighing on his mind since high school graduation. Upon returning from that trip he had had made up his mind to pursue acting full time. In early 1999 he packed all his possessions, stuffed them into his 1995 Hyundai Accent and headed out to sunny Hollywood, California. Since moving to Los Angeles he has worked in television, film and on stage. He has appeared on NBC's "3rd Rock from the Sun" and numerous commercials, in the films "Fellowship of the Dice" and "Mr. Tempest is Here" and on stage in John Patrick Shanley's "Welcome to the Moon" and Farah Bunch's "Julia in the Skybar with Vipers". Big things are on the horizon for this rising star; so keep on eye on him in 2009. |
